The purpose of the geographic map was to map the location of where funerals took place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin while illustrating the transition of death notices from affluent neighborhoods to the working class from 1860 to 1889. The key respectively assigns a symbol for each death notice period, churches, cemeteries, hospitals, and funeral parlors. It should be noted that each marker was plotted as accordingly as possible. However, with the development of Milwaukee and the changes in street names and addresses, there may be a few discrepancies.
